Hypnosis is a natural phenomenon that is centuries old. It is a safe therapeutic technique that is now increasingly recognised by many branches of orthodox medicine as a valuable alternative to drugs and one that can accelerate healing and help combat pain. It is also widely used today in other professional fields including dentistry, sport, the legal system and education. Hypnotherapy is fast, drug-free, safe, and has no unwelcome side effects.
Most of us experience hypnotic trance-like states without even realising it? It is a very natural state. When was the last time you read a book, watched something on the TV or worked on some other task or pursuit, and became so absorbed that life continued on around you without you even being aware? Hypnosis is a very natural state. Hypnotherapy is just as it sounds - the combination of hypnosis and therapy.
Whilst it is not a cure-all, hypnotherapy can be an effective treatment method for a great many problems, but it is often undeservedly feared and misunderstood.
Hypnosis is a very natural process used by hypnotherapists to promote positive benefits - and as a therapist, I always work for the client's highest will and benefit.
Hypnotherapy in general terms is either Suggestion based or Analytical.
Suggestion based therapy might be used to help people stop smoking or control weight. Careful use of positive, beneficial suggestions is aimed at replacing inappropriate habits or behaviour with something more appropriate. It might also be used to boost confidence and reduce performance anxiety. NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and other techniques such as Self-Hypnosis might also be used to strengthen and enhance the therapy. The client is empowered through being given tools that can be taken away and used in everyday life in numerous ways.
Analytical based therapy might be used to resolve issues that are deeply rooted. The aim is to find, explore and remove the underlying, sometimes deeply hidden original cause(s) through hypnosis. Issues where a psychological factor is at work can be aided and effectively overcome with this form of therapy. I offer Past Life Regression Therapy and inner child work as healing tools that can provide insight into the presenting problem(s). This can then enable the client to find suitable solutions.
