DOES HYPNOSIS REALLY WORK?                                                                                   Yes. It can be a powerful therapy.

CAN ANYONE BE HYPNOTISED?                                                                                       Pretty much. The hypnotic state is actually a very natural phenomenon. Think of the last time you became so engrossed in something that required your concentration, that the world moved around you and on past .... without you noticing!  From this point of reference, then yes, we all have the ability to be hypnotised but not all of us will allow it to happen, for whatever reason. There a few exceptional circumstances where it might not be possible, eg., someone under the influence of drugs or alcohol; very young children; and the truly mental subnormal.

CAN I RESIST BEING HYPNOTISED?                                                                                  Yes. Of course. But why would you pay to come and see me for help with a problem and then not allow yourself the opportunity to benefit from the therapy?

HOW WILL I KNOW I'VE BEEN HYPNOTISED?                                                                    Now to dispel a myth. Most people cannot tell the difference between the hypnotised and the waking state. Some may feel much more relaxed than normal. Others may experience heaviness or lightness in their body. Although the word "asleep" may be used in therapy, the patient is fully aware of what is going on all the time. In achieving a trance state through hypnosis, an altered state of awareness is attained and allows the unconscious or sub conscious mind to be accessed.

IS IT SAFE? ARE YOU A TRAINED HYPNOTHERAPIST?                                                    This is a good question to ask. As with any therapist, qualifications should be queried and checked out. I trained in Clinical Hypnosis with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH). It is one of the major training institutions involved in raising standards within the profession and is university accredited. I am also a member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH) and abide by its strict Code of Conduct.
